For the last 10 years Richard Horne, a former Chair of the Safety Advisory Group from his days as an emergency planning officer at Devon County Council, has acted as administrator to the Exeter City Foundation fund raising scheme.
From January 2023 Richard will be handing over the reigns to Phil Broom, who has helped the Club as a volunteer on many occasions in the past.
For Foundation members, there should be little change. Contact details remain the same - email foundation@ecfc.co.uk - and the draw will continue to run monthly, with financial prizes both weekly - £100 - and monthly - £1,000. Also, each summer there is a further benefit for those members who renew or take out a season ticket, either a £23 cash-back or voucher to spend £30 in the ECFC shop. Surplus monies are re-invested in good causes at the Club, most recently the ‘Kit out the Cliff’ campaign at the ECFC training ground and the Bramble Ward Christmas appeal. Reflecting on his time with the Foundation, Richard said: "It hass been an interesting time, taking the Foundation from a paper-based system to one integrated with the Club’s main ticketing system and using spreadsheets.
"Then there was the shock caused by Covid restrictions, which entailed moving virtually all payments from cheques to bank transfer, which of course made life much easier for the Administrator. So, for me it’s time to move on - and with no conflict of interest, I may well be joining the Foundation!”
