City coach Dan Green has given his assessment following the Grecians' 2-2 draw away to Swansea City in the U23 Premier League Cup.
Goals from Callum Rowe and Ben Seymour helped City pick up a point - but it leaves their group stage qualification hopes hanging in the balance, requiring two wins from their final two matches against West Ham and Wolves.
"Swansea probably had the better of the first half, so at half time we asked them to be a little bit braver and then thought we were a lot better," he said.
"The players showed great character to get straight back into the game after going behind, and the way they responded to their equaliser was good in the second half too."
