At Exeter City we pride ourselves on being supporter owned. Sadly at this point in time the behaviour of a small minority of supporters has left us feeling angry, disappointed and embarrassed.
Instead of enjoying the win on Saturday we were all left frustrated at the behaviour of some individuals that reflects so badly on our club.
The club signed up to the EFL Chairmans charter and committed to issue a ban against any fan found attempting to bring a banned item into a ground. The same will apply to supporters who choose to discharge pyrotechnics within a stadium environment.
We have been contacted by a number of supporters who share the clubโs frustration around the issues that have taken place in respect of pyrotechnics, pitch incursions, items being thrown towards the pitch and offensive chanting that ruin the atmosphere and match day experience.
We understand passions run high and football is highly emotional - thatโs what makes it great being a fan - but that is no excuse for this kind of behaviour.
We will always work with Devon & Cornwall Police and the opposition club to identify individuals involved in matters that breech ground regulations. The club has already issued banning orders for individuals for incidents this season.
We would like to remind supporters that if incidents of this nature reported, the Football Association have the power to impose serious sanctions on our club.
You can report any incidents to us, confidentially if you wish, to help us to eradicate this behaviour by emailing: safety.officer@ecfc.co.uk.
If you witness behaviour of this type during a match, please report to the nearest steward or text our reporting hotline HELP ECFC to 62277.
Lets make St James Park and every away end that we occupy great and support the team in all the right ways.
