Matt Taylor is excited for the League One season to get underway as the Grecians head to Lincoln City on Saturday to kick off their first third tier season in ten years.
Lincoln have undergone a period of transition over the summer with the installation of new manager Mark Kennedy, and Taylor says that this can make the game harder to prepare for.
"We've tried to pick up bits from pre-season, but sometimes, like ourselves, the opposition isn't always relevant," he said.
"What we have picked up we have fed into the players where necessary and then we really concentrate on our own principles of play.
"I hope we look like we did last season, and look like we did when we were at our best last season. We will have to have our wits about us. They have a fresher squad and they will have an anticipation, but there has to be an air of expectation amongst anyone associated with Exeter City.
"There is lots of detail to go into about the opposition."
