Now the fixtures have been released for the 2022/23 League One season, it's time to get planning. Here are some of the key fixtures you've all been waiting for.
Opening and closing weekend
The Grecians will open the season with a trip to Lincoln City at the LNER Stadium. It will be our first trip to the venue since 2019 when Matt Jay scored a stunning free kick in a 1-1 draw. Lincoln will begin the new season with a new manager following the departure of Michael Appleton, with former Cardiff and Wolves man Mark Kennedy appointed in May.
We end the season at home to Morecambe, currently managed by Derek Adams. The Shrimps ascended to League One two seasons ago, winning the play-offs at Wembley against Newport County.
Local matches
Following the West Country's domination of League Two, we will of course be joined by Forest Green Rovers and Bristol Rovers in the third tier this year. Adding to likes of Plymouth Argyle and Cheltenham Town, we have a lot more local fixtures this time round.
Our first of these games is at home to Cheltenham Town on Saturday August 20, with the away game at Saturday March 18.
Away to Forest Green will be on Saturday 24 September, with the return game at SJP on Saturday January 14.
Swiftly following our trip to the New Lawn, we host Bristol Rovers on October 1, with the match at the Memorial Stadium on Thursday December 29.
Our first Devon Derby takes place at Home Park on Saturday October 29, with the game at SJP on Saturday April 15.
New Ground visits
Derby County's Pride Park is the only ground in League One that the Grecians have never played at. That fixture takes place on Tuesday October 25.
Christmas and Easter
Christmas has been relatively kind to the Grecians in terms of travelling once again, with City hosting Portsmouth on Boxing Day. We travel to Bristol Rovers on Thursday December 29, and we're away to Oxford United on New Year's Day.
Midweek Fixtures
Wycombe Wanderers at home is our first midweek fixture on Tuesday August 16. We travel to Shrewsbury on Tuesday September 13. We then travel to Derby on Tuesday October 25. Shrewsbury at home is Tuesday February 14, with Derby at home on Tuesday April 18.
Get planning, Grecians!
