As we take a look back at last season month by month via our club photographers PPA UK, we now head into January and February, where signs of something special happening began to grow.
A Papa John's Trophy match at home to Portsmouth is where we start, with PPA capturing this epic stadium shot before the game.
Our first win of 2022 came at home to Scunthorpe United, when Jevani Brown and Offrande Zanzala - on his City debut - scored his first Grecian goal.
Jevani Brown is mobbed by his teammates as he scores City's first goal against the Iron at SJP to set the Grecians on their way to a 2-0 victory.
The wins kept on coming and it was a memorable away day at Walsall as City picked up another 2-0 win. It was also a special day for One of Our Own...
Tim Dieng celebrates his goal as the Grecians take the lead in a 2-0 win at the Banks's Stadium.
The second goal of the afternoon was a late header from Cheick Diabate - his very first professional goal - and he celebrated the moment in style.
One of Our Own, Cheick, runs into the crowd as he celebrates his first professional goal.
Into February and the late goals kept coming. A goal down in the last ten minutes at Swindon, Tim Dieng and Jevani Brown were on target as the Late Late Show snatched a 2-1 win at the County Ground.
Three days later and City were heading for a drab goalless draw at home to Leyton Orient. That was until Cheick Diabate decided one goal in a fortnight wasn't enough, so he went and bagged another one in the second minute of stoppage time to send SJP into raptures.
Cheick Diabate rises highest to head home a late late winner at home to Kenny Jackett's Leyton Orient.
And then, just a week later, one of the best games ever witnessed at St James Park. The Grecians were surprisingly 3-1 down at home to Harrogate Town deep into the second half, but managed to pull it back to 3-3 thanks to goals from Tim Dieng and Jonathan Grounds. A point would have been satisfactory after a lacklustre first half, but Jack Sparkes had other ideas...
Jack Sparkes is mobbed by his teammates as his 96th minute wonder goal seals a stunning 4-3 win, sending St James Park wild after one of the greatest games ever seen at St James Park.
I'm sure Chaz the Groundsman didn't mind a knee slide *on this occasion*, eh Sparkesy?
