Gary Caldwell has praised his side as Archie Collins' late screamer secured safe passage to round two of the Emirates FA Cup - his first win as manager.
Collins scored less than two minutes after Port Vale thought they had secured a replay back at SJP with a sumptuous long range finish, adding to Jevani Brown's brace - one of which was also a long range beauty.
"I'm delighted to get that first win and be in the next round of the cup," Gary said post match.
"Both teams went for it. I thought we were excellent. We didn't start too well but we recovered from that. The goal just before the break settled us down, them going forward in the second half we were very good.
"We were a little flat to begin with, but Stanno made a ball out of nothing foir Jevani, then in the second half we looked comfortable. Then it all kicked off in the last five minutes and everything went out of the window in terms of tactics.
"It was two teams slugging it out and thankfully we came out on top."
