Gary Caldwell has given his reaction as City were beaten 1-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers on Good Friday.
Conor Bradley's effort in the first half decided the game, though Sam Nombe hit the bar and the Grecians had another goal ruled out for handball.
"It just wasn't going in for us. I thought our response in the second half was outstanding. The players energy and desire, they gave everything.
"The final action, the cross, we couldn't quote get it right when trying to make up for a sloppy first half performance.
"The manner we conceded was disappointing because of the press that we worked on. We got punished, considering we worked on it."
