Gary Caldwell has given his thoughts as City prepare to take on Plymouth Argyle in Saturday's huge Devon Derby at St James Park.
The A38 clash is the first in EX4 since March 2019, and Caldwell, who has experienced one of the fiercest rivalries in world football - the Old Firm - has spoken about the importance of the game to the club, supporters and the city.
"This game means winning. The big thing in Derby games is winning, that's what everyone wants," he said.
"We are more prepared for this game, but ultimately it is all about winning and giving the supporters what they want. You're going into the lions den and you have to be brave and resilient. My experiences I can pass onto the players but at 12pm on Saturday I want the players to be courageous and go and win the game, but I want them to feel free and not inhibited in any way.
"If I look back to the Barnsley game here, it was a big game and we needed bravery and resilience in different moments. In big games you get put under pressure and we have to be a team where we don't concede easily.
"I want the players to be fully ready, free, and go out there and enjoy a massive game of football."
