Exeter City Women complete their pre-season preparation with a visit to Liskeard Athletic Women on Thursday evening, the Grecians aiming to finish on a high ahead of the first league game of the season.
Liskeard will again compete in the South West Premier Division this season, finishing last year in fifth position. The summer months have seen some high-class additions to the Blues squad and Manager Lee Mann will no doubt be looking to challenge for promotion to the National League in 2023/24.
With talented returnees Sara Rowe, Sam Metters, Chloe Williams and Gabi Alphous has come the reinforcement of former Plymouth Argyle trio Tiana Campbell, Ebony Dover and Kayley Lane. Midfielder Lane is a particular coup for the Blues having been a prominent part of the Argyle squad that maintained their Southern Premier status last season. Narrow defeats to Bridgwater United and Keynsham Town have underlined the strength of Mannโs squad as they have competed consistently against higher level opposition, and they will again be looking to impress against the Grecians on Thursday evening.
For Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakleyโs side this will be the final chance to impress ahead of the first league game, with a host of players already making that decision a difficult one for the City Management team. An encouraging display in defeat at Oxford has been followed by three strong home performances, drawing with Cheltenham Town and Cardiff City Women alongside a comfortable victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies. The Grecians kick off their campaign away to Bridgwater United on August 20th and will go into the season with hopes of another title challenge.
