Gary Caldwell has expressed his frustration as City were beaten at home by Charlton Athletic.
Two goals inside the first 18 minutes has City with work to do, and despite Demetri Mitchell's first goal for the club, the task proved too much for Caldwell's side.
"I thought we played well, but when you defend the way we did to give a team a two goal lead then you give yourself too much to do," he said.
"I thought we gave it a good go, we kept going, created opportunites, but you just can't give a team a two-goal headstart,
"We didn't have any defensive action on what we worked on all week. We gifted them two goals and that can't happen, and if we do defend these action we don't have any more problems in the game.
"Those defensive actions have cost us today."
