More south west sports clubs are set to benefit when Exeter City wins – thanks to club sponsor Carpetright.
The We Win You Win competition, which sees a grassroots club awarded £500 every time City wins a match, was due to end in December. But thanks to Carpetright’s generosity it has been extended until the end of this season.
And applications are invited now for our recent wins against Oxford United and Bristol Rovers.
So far, the competition has seen a total of £11,500 donated to south west sports clubs, with hundreds of applications and 23 clubs receiving a contribution during the year.
Matthew Dawes, commercial manager at Exeter City, said: “Carpetright have been terrific sponsors of our club over the last three years. We’re incredibly grateful to them for all the support they have shown us, and for initiatives like this. They understand the importance of community, something which is at the heart of our supporter-owned club, and these donations have gone a long way to helping the sporting community of the south west.
"It’s incredibly generous of them to extend the competition in this way. Let’s hope for lots more city wins in the coming months!”
Amongst the winners this year have been youth and senior football teams, a water polo club, rugby squads and walking football teams. Teams can apply for the fund by sending a pitch to Carpetright, explaining who they are and why they deserve help.
