Gary Caldwell spoke with delight after the Grecians secured the signing of centre half Zac Jules on a one year deal with the option of a second.
Having worked with Zac previously, Gary said, “He has had real success in the league finishing in the playoffs the season before last with MK Dons and he is somebody I know. Previously I signed him on loan at Chesterfield, so I know the character, I know the person and his career has really kicked on since then.
“It’s great I think having that relationship is good, he knows me I know him, we will build a relationship, but we also understand each other straight away which helps him settle in a lot quicker.
In regards to what the club are looking for in the transfer window, “I think we have signed a lot of players on loan, which bring youth and energy and quality, Tom’s come in, which is going to add that experience but Zac is going to add that as well and I think we have to compliment the younger players that we have with some experience and know-how of this level and Zac will definitely bring that.
Gary discussed where he Zac may fit into the team, “He is predominantly a left centre back, but I think he can play middle or left, he can play full back as well which gives us a little bit of tactical flexibility.”
