Gary Caldwell spoke proudly of his Grecians after a mixed bag of performances against Championship outfit Bristol City and newly promoted National League South side Weston-super-Mare.
City were beaten 4-0 in Bristol, but won 3-2 at Weston, with lessons learnt in both matches.
In regards to the Bristol City performance, Gary was pleased with the test.
"I thought it was a fantastic level of game, I thought Bristol were excellent right throughout the game and they had the physicallty and the quality that is obviously above our league, they are a Championship club.
"The pitch was excellent, the facilties were excellent and it was a really big test for us, which I thought first half we stood up to that test and as the game wore on, you could see their quality came to the fore, but a lot of lessons learned and again minutes in the legs."
Touching on the Weston-super-Mare game, he added: "I thought we were as good as we've been in terms of the start of the game, we played on the front foot, we were aggressive in the press, we passed the ball forward, we created a lot of opportunities and the negative from that is we should have been out of sight after that first half an hour.
