📝 Match Preview: Weston-super-Mare (A)

Exeter City's pre-season continues on Tuesday with two matches - the second of which is a trip to Weston-super-Mare.

City will face the Seagulls at the Optima Stadium following a behind closed doors match at Bristol City's High Performance Centre.

The match against Bristol City will not be streamed, however we will be covering the match live on our social media channels, followed by highlights later.

Following his red card at Torquay, a one-match suspension will apply to Pierce Sweeney. This is being served against Bristol City, so he will be available at Weston.

The Grecians pre-season preparations took a hit on Saturday, losing 4-1 at Torquay, but both Bristol City and Weston will offer a different challenge to those previously faced this summer.

Both Ed James and Harry Lee joinexd the Somerset club last week, joining a long line of Grecians to have featured for the club, including Reuben Reid and James Dodd.

The Stadium

Weston's ground has a capacity of 3,500, with 250 seats spread across the North Stand (which has terracing behind) and a smaller stand on the side of the pitch.

In 2021, the club announced plans to bring the ground up to EFL standard, though these plans have yet to come into fruition. The record crowd is 2,949 for an FA Cup match with Doncaster Rovers in November 2014.

How to get there

It should take just over an hour from Exeter, but of course the M5 is something to be wary of.
