Now the fixtures have been released for the 2022/23 League One season, it's time to get planning. Here are some of the key fixtures you've all been waiting for.
Opening and closing weekend
The Grecians will open the season with a trip to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, August 5. Last season, Kevin McDonald was on target as we drew 1-1 at Adams Park.
We end the campaign at home to Oxford United, with the season finishing earlier than usual on Saturday, April 27. The U's sealed League One survival late on last season under former MK Dons boss Liam Manning, who was appointed in March.
Local Matches
Following Plymouth's promotion and Forest Green's relegation, we've lost a couple of Westcountry derbies this season. We will take on Cheltenham Town at home first, on Saturday, September 16, before we face Bristol Rovers away on Saturday, October 14. We then host Rovers on Saturday, February 3, before a trip to Cheltenham on Easter Monday, April 1.
New Ground Visits
City will make their first ever trips to two new stadia tis season - Reading's Madejski Stadium and Wigan Athletic's DW Stadium. We travel to Reading on New Years' Day, Monday, January 1, while we travel to Wigan on Saturday, February 10.
Christmas and Easter
City will travel to Cambridge United on Saturday, December 23. Once again, the Grecians are at home on Boxing Day as we host Wycombe Wanderers, before Portsmouth travel to SJP three days later on Friday, December 29. We then go to Reading on New Years' Day.
Midweek Fixtures
Like last season, both fixtures against Derby County and Shrewsbury Town will take place on Tuesdays. We're at Derby on October 24, before hosting them on February 13, while Shrewsbury visit SJP on November 28 and we travel there on March 12.
