Exeter City have the opportunity to return to winning ways when Accrington Stanley visit St James Park for the first time since 2017 this Saturday.
City were beaten 3-1 at Cheltenham Town last weekend, while Accrington were beaten 2-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.
This is the first meeting between the two sides since November 2017, when City were 2-0 winners thanks to Hiram Boateng effort and Pierce Sweeney's late penalty. The most recent fixture, in Lancashire back in August, ended 0-0 between the two sides.
Gary's Preview
Accrington have struggled this season, finding themselves in 21st place, but having watched them during this campaign, Caldwell emphasised that Saturday’s game will be a tough encounter for the Grecians.
“Their enthusiasm, their understanding of how they play, they have had their manager for a long time, who knows the club inside out, he has almost built that football club single-handily and I think the players buy into him and everything that football club stands for,” Gary said.
“They will be energetic, they will be enthusiastic, they will put us under pressure, they will give everything win the game, they are never beaten.
I’ve been to their stadium a few times, I had a player when I was at City Football Group that was on loan there, so I understand the football team and how they play, but we will we be in for a very tough game.”
