Gary Caldwell was delighted with his side’s performance as they romped to a 5-0 win at St James Park against Accrington Stanley.
The Grecians were in complete control from start to finish and had five different goal scorers, with Demetri Mitchell, Josh Key, Sam Nombe, James Scott and Jay Stansfield all getting on the scoresheet.
“I think in the last few weeks it’s been coming, I think we’ve dominated games, starting creating more chances, and it’s been about being more ruthless and killing teams off,” Gary said.
“Since I’ve came to club, Josh has been tremendous, and the one thing I think he could add to his game was goals, so to see him score again is brilliant.
"I think we’ve seen James’ quality today, his fitness levels are improving every week, his physicality, the way he held up the ball for the team, and his finishing off both feet is exceptional.
"It was a brilliant moment (Stansfield’s goal), he’s gone a long time without a goal and since I’ve been here, his training, his standards, the assists that he’s got have been first class for a young player, and I’m so happy for him to score at that end.
"Even when we win there are areas we can improve and develop, and we will look at that before Tuesday night to try and be even better, and we have to be even better against a team that’s pushing for promotion, it’s a brilliant challenge at SJP and a challenge we feel we are ready for.”
