✍️ Pedro Borges signs first professional contract!

We are delighted to announce that Academy midfielder Pedro Borges has signed his first professional contract with the club.

18-year-old Borges, who father played professionally for Boavista in Portugal, joined us from the youth system at Yeovil last year and made his senior debut for the Grecians in August 2022 against Newport in the Papa Johns Trophy, before featuring again in the same competition a month later in a tie against Southampton under-21. He has also spent part of this season on loan at Plymouth Parkway, alongside fellow academy player Harrison King.

"It's a very proud moment for me and my family, and all the sacrifices that have been made," Pedro said on his new deal.

"I want to thank the club first and foremost for their trust in my abilities and I am just really happy to be here. It feels hard that if you work hard, you get rewarded.

"It has been a surreal experience playing in the first team, I felt a lot of pressure. One year into my scholarship making my first team debut, that was absolutely surreal. And down at Parkway, coming off the bench and playing against men every week was a huge learning experience.

"One of the reasons I joined this club is because of the opportunity it gives to young players and I know that if I work hard then it will pay off.

Brad Miller, Head of Coaching and Player Development added: "Firstly, it has been a pleasure to work with Pedro, he has worked incredibly hard to get the opportunity to sign his first professional contract. We are delighted to be in a position to offer this opportunity to continue his development with us here at Exeter City.

"He has some outstanding potential in a lot of different areas, so we are excited to work with him to achieve that potential.

"A massive well done from all the staff at the Academy to Pedro on what he has achieved. Thank you again to the club and first team staff  to continue investing time in our young players with opportunities in our first team.’’
