Exeter City number nine, Jay Stansfield, said his goodbyes to the City faithful in perfect fashion, scoring a hat-trick and securing a man of the match in his final appearance in red and white.
After a quiet first half, Stansfield changed the game in City's favour with a 21 minute hat-trick to guarantee a final day victory and all three points at SJP.
“It was an amazing day, not just for me but for all the fans," he said.
"It’s a privilege to put this shirt on and wear it with such pride, to come here and score a hat-trick in front of all these fans who have been amazing all season, there’s no better way to finish."
After scoring nine goals while wearing the number nine, Jay had this to say: "I am buzzing with it obviously, like I’ve said recently I didn’t score for a while, but these fans stuck by me the whole way and they were amazing all season and I am just so happy I could come out here and get three goals for them."
Talking about the three coaches he's worked with this season, "Being a young lad who came through the academy, the people still here have been amazing. Like I said for Matty when he was here for the time, I was here he was unbelievable, to get me here and show confidence in me.
"I knew Kev when I first left, he was amazing with me when Mattie left and gave me all the confidence, scoring three goals when he was in charge, it just shows what a big part he was here and then when the gaffer came in he has been absolutely unbelievable with me, stuck with me the whole way and yeah I am just happy I could get three today".
