Assistant manager Kevin Nicholson was on press duty this week to discuss City's preparation for the Emirates FA Cup first round tie with Wigan Athletic at St James Park.
The Grecians were beaten 2-0 by the same opponent just two weeks ago in the league fixture, but Nicholson expects a different Latics side to run out at SJP this time around.
"They got the result and the three points last time, but they don't expect to be coming to Exeter and having 20% possession and 30 shots against them. They expect to dictate the play and put their stamp on the game.
"Their manager is very intelligent and detailed so he will now be looking at how they can make corrections and get them on the front foot, rather than hanging on without the ball that it would be fair to say they did.
"I would take the same performance from us, but we need belief in front of goal. We've scored a few since then, and confidence is a big thing in football."
