Youngster Jake Richards is looking forward to Tuesday night as the Grecians prepare to face Arsenal U21s in the second match of the EFL Trophy group stage.
Gary Caldwell's side know they have to be better after a 9-0 home defeat to Reading in the first group match, and 16-year-old Richards is hoping City can put on a performance against a top academy side.
"Arsenal will be really good, so it'll be a great opportunity for us to show what we can do and to impress the gaffer," he said.
"It's a great competition to get the young players involved and it's more minutes in a first team environment. We can't let the previous performance happen again"
Richards was thrust into the first team spotlight as a 15-year-old at Mousehole in pre-season, and he has reflected on his quick transition to first team football.
"I've looked back on where I've been, but you can't too much and you can only look at what's the next game and that is Tuesday. I'm thankful to the gaffer for giving me the opportunities."
