Exeter City Women will be going in search of three points against Portishead Town this evening as they look to maintain a winning start to the season and complete a 20th successive home league victory.
Portishead have endured a tough start to the 2023/24 campaign, an opening day victory over Torquay United was followed by seven successive defeats in league and cup action. However, the Possets will come into the fixture buoyed by breaking that sequence with a home draw to Southampton Womenโs FC on Sunday, Ellie Brindley scoring deep into stoppage time to secure the point.
Town have maintained continuity in their squad over the summer, only two of the players who featured in the game at St James Park back in March are no longer at the Club, although the loss of the influential Ellie Strippel was undeniably a significant departure as the Leagueโs Player of the Year signed for Swindon Town.
Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley will be keen to make sure the Grecians continue to pile up the early season points, victory this evening would make it six wins from six in the National League. With AFC Bournemouth starting in similar fashion, City will be keen to secure the win over Portishead and watch on with interest of the outcome of the Cherries home fixture with Moneyfields.
