Gary Caldwell has given his reaction as City were beaten by Oxford United on the final day of the League One season, which confirms a 14th placed finish.
Two first half goals from Mark Harris and Cameron Brannagan left City with a mountain to climb, but Milli Alli responded with a second half header to give the Grecians hope.
"The first half was really disappointing, and I blame myself first of all as the shape wasn't right," Gary said.
"Oxford were very resilient and had so much to play for so all credit to them. We just lacked what we've had in recent weeks. We set up in 4-2-2-2 with two number 9s and hadn't tried that before and we didn't have enough width up the pitch.
"In the second half we changed things and were much better, but when you give a play-off team a two goal advantage, you are left with a lot to do.
"That is something we can improve on next season. To come through this season, with a full house on the last day, that is something we have to deal with."
