Gary Caldwell has given his reaction as the Grecians were held 1-1 at home to Charlton Athletic.
Ben Purrington's early header was cancelled out by a late Cheick Diabate own goal as the two sides next to each other in the League One table at kick-off held each other to a draw.
"It was probably a fair point in the end." Gary said.
"I thought we started incredibly well. Some of our play was tremendous in the first ten minutes, but after that we stopped doing what we did well and made the game a 50/50 game.
"I said to the players that intent to score in the first 15 minutes has to be the start in the game. When you haven't played in two weeks it can be easy to start slow and build into the game, but the players were outstanding.
"In the second half, they have a fantastic squad of bigger, stronger players, and made it difficult for us. They put the ball forward and put us under pressure and we didn't kill the game off with the chances we had to go 2-0 up.
"We had to do better in terms of the 90 minute game. It's not about just taking the lead and then things will come easy, you have to keep doing the things that got you in front."
