The Big Exeter City Quiz celebrates 21 years!

Exeter City Quiz

In 2003, with the club still reeling from administration and losing it's Football League status, Norman Warne decided to reconnect the club and the fans by holding a series of quiz nights.

Norman was a former Associate Director of the Club and a Maths Teacher in a private school. Norman still marks A Level exam papers today. His idea of having head-to-head quiz 'matches' in a league format was an innovation that caught the minds (in more ways than one) of supporters, groups of friends and workplaces around the city.

At it's peak, the quiz had close to a Hundred teams competing over three nights towards the end of each year. Unfortunately ageing competitors dropping out and the effect Covid had on how people came together has seen the number of competing teams fall somewhat over the last few years.

Both the Club and the Supporters Trust have come together to make this years quiz better than ever. There will be prizes and medals for the winners and runners-up on all three nights and, if your team is not in the top two, there will be an opportunity to grab one of the fantastic prizes that have been donated by sponsors and partners in one of the nightly raffles.

We must also say a huge thank you to the sponsor of this years Big Quiz, Justin Dillon. Justin shared a flat at university with an avid Grecian in the 1970s and has always looked out for the club since then. He was a season ticket holder while working at the University of Exeter recently. Now living in London, Justin tries to get to as many away games as his work commitments allow.

All proceeds from this year Big Quiz will go to the Cliff Hill Recovery Room appeal, making our excellent training facilities even better!

  • Mon 18 November.
  • Monday 16 December.
