Club to celebrate Football v Homophobia during midweek double header

Football v Homophobia match day promo

Exeter City will celebrate the Football v Homophobia for the 15th consecutive year during the two midweek matches for the men's and women's teams.

City men host Mansfield Town on Tuesday, March 11, 7.45pm at St James Park while City Women host Devon rivals Plymouth Argyle the following evening, Wednesday, March 12, 7.45pm at Coach Road, Newton Abbot.

The club have hosted a FvH match day every year since the campaign's inception in 2010, and were recognised for their work in the area of LGBTQ+ inclusion at the FvH Awards in Manchester last year as one of the top three professional clubs in the UK.

There are four simple aims of FvH. which Exeter City are proud to help support:

  1. Make existing football structures safe, welcoming and inclusive for LGBTIQ+ people
  2. Create opportunities and promote engagement of LGBTIQ+ people in football at all levels and in all forms
  3. Improve the representation and visibility of LGBTIQ+ people throughout football
  4. To realise the potential of football in society as a tool to create positive change.

On both Tuesday and Wednesday evening, players from both sides will warm up in dedicated FvH t-shirts. Proud Grecians, the official LGBTQ supporters group of Exeter City, will be in attendance at both matches handing out leaflets and rainbow laces, and will be happy to have a chat to supporters in the fan zone about the cause. Isca Apollo, Exeter's only inclusive football team, will also be at St James Park representing.

Before the matches kick-off, the teams will walk out behind a Football v Homophobia banner.

At Exeter City, we are proud to foster a welcoming environment for all, regardless of your sexual orientation or identity. In our house, the only letters that matter are ECFC.

On the thankfully rare occasion that discrimination does occur, supporters can report this anonymously via the club's dedicated reporting line. Simply text 'HELP ECFC' to 62277 to report discrimination on match day.

Tickets for both matches are now on sale and can be purchased online via your ticketing account here, or in person at the ticket office.
