Exeter City Women have added to their defensive options ahead of the new season with the signing of Courtney Jones.
Jones arrives after a successful spell at Cheltenham Town, where she was a key member in the Robins' Division One South West winning side of 2022, scoring against the Grecians in a 3-1 victory in Gloucestershire.
As Town adapted to life in tier three, Jones would be a regular starter for Tom Davies’ side, playing on 22 occasions as they finished a respectable eighth in the division. Jones would play 17 times for the Robins last season, including a late substitute appearance as Town and City clashed in the FA Cup.
Jones started her career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to Stoke City for a three-year spell. She joined Cheltenham in 2021 where she was a teammate of fellow Grecian Georgie-Marie Barbour-Gresham. Jones recently captained the UK Armed Forces Team, the defender representing the British Army.
Manager Abbie Britton is delighted to have added to her squad ahead of the new season:
"She has been fantastic in coming into the group and I am looking forward to working with her this season.”
Jones will be available for selection as the Grecians begin the new season this coming Sunday, MK Dons the visitors to St James Park.
