City PDP Coach Dan Green has given his thoughts ahead of the Grecians’ opening Premier League Cup fixture away at Bromley on Tuesday evening.
Back in the competition for the first time in three years, the young City side head to South-East London to kick-off the group stages – which also feature Norwich City and Bristol City.
Last time out in the competition, in 2021/22, City were drawn in a group with Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United and Swansea City, finishing third, and will look to go one better and progress out of the group this time around.
“What we have learned over the years in this competition previously is that we concentrate on the habits for the players that will see them progress to the next stage of their careers with the first team. Our full focus will be on our principles.
“There will be some young players who are doing well in the under-18s featuring, and there will also be some of the young professionals that the competition is particularly aimed at, plus there may be a couple of first team players that are perhaps coming back from injury and need minutes. It will be a varied squad each game.”
