Demetri Mitchell has given his thoughts as his gosl rescued an unlikely point for the Grecians in a 4-4 thriller at St James Park.
Half-time change Mitchell scored the fourth in the third minute of stoppage time to send SJP into pandemonium as 2024 ended with a thriller of a match.
"I scored some great goals for this club, but to score that one so late to equalise, after a year out of football, it means a lot. It's so good the manager kept his faith in me, so it was nice to get on the scoresheet."
"I think if the game goes another five minutes we get the winner, but seven points from a week, we are happy with that.
"At half-time you can expect a rocket, but the gaffer has come in and said to get the next goal, apply the pressure and that we can go on to win the game. We were so close to doing that.
"We have such a good squad depth, but players have come on and changed the game. Our strength in depth is massive."
