Following City's 2-0 win against Stevenage, manager Gary Caldwell described the three points as a "massive result".
Early goals in both halves from Ed Francis and then Kamari Doyle paved the way for the Grecians second win in three home games. Stevenage poised a physical challenge to City, something which Gary was pleased with the way his team adapted to.
"We knew the game would be awkward, we knew it would be full of chaos, full of first contacts, second balls.
"We tried our best to play football and we had our moments where we played some really good football, scored from a set piece again, which is always pleasing for the staff and analysts.
"All credit to them."
For the first time at home this season in League One, City scored a second goal and at a crucial time just minutes in to the second half. However, Gary still believes his team can perform better going forwards.
"That second goal was all important, we've spoken about it in other games which we've lost but we got it today, but i said to the players I still think there's more.
"I think we can be much better as individuals and as a team."
"But I think that's the sign of a good team that when we're not fully firing, we can still win a game fairly comfortably."
