Hugh Betteridge scoops the Foundations BIG £1000 prize for April!

Hugh scoops the foundation's big £1000 prize!

The big winner in the Exeter City Foundation draw for April is Hugh Betteridge who has won the £1,000 prize.

Hugh is currently spreading the word in the United States, our picture shows him wearing his City colours in Echo Canyon, Utah. He says he will use the winnings to renew his season ticket, maybe share some with the friends he stands with on the Big Bank and any left over will go to charity

Hugh has been supporting City since his university days and recalls, “My first match was in the Autumn of 1978 when Tony Kitson, a friend from Exeter I met at Bath University, invited me down for the weekend. Ian Maine was in goal.  He grew up round the corner from me in Weston-super-Mare; we used to play in the street together.

"After that I was more than willing to come down again, and made a number of friends in the Cow Shed - still like to see Chris Evans at matches in particular.  At some point I decided to support the club by buying a season ticket knowing that I would only be able to get down to a few games per season. There are many memorable players over the years.  In the early years, other than Ian Maine, I liked to see Ian Pearson as he was a part-timer in Division Three who always seemed to give it his all.”
