Match Preview: Charlton Athletic (H)

Charlton Athletic Match Preview

Exeter City begin a run of four home league matches in five when Charlton Athletic are the visitors to Devon this Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

The Grecians hope to continue where they left off from cup action in the last two fixtures as they recorded two wins in a row against Bristol Rovers (3-2 in the EFL Trophy) and Barnet (5-3 in the FA Cup).

Charlton meanwhile are on a run of six games unbeaten in all competitions following 4-3 win away at Southend United in the FA Cup last weekend.

Remembrance Day Service

Exeter City will be participating in 'Remember Together' at the pre-Armistice Day match.

The national 2024 Poppy Appeal launched on October 24 in England, Scotland and Wales. Collection boxes are available in the Club Shop, Centre Spot and Heritage Lounge.

On the day fans are encouraged to arrive early as the gates will close between 2:54pm and 2:58pm for the ceremony. The kiosks and bars will also close at 2:45pm and re-open at 3pm.

What has become a highly regarded on-pitch observation over the years will take place at St James Park prior to the 3pm kick-off when Charlton visit.

Gary Caldwell's Thoughts

"When you lose two league games back to back, sometimes it's good to have a different competition and a different approach to the game. The mood of the place has changed and the wins have given us a positive approach in training.

"Charlton probably aren't in the position in the table that they would like to be. They've been well financed and have really improved, and their squad looks really strong.

"We know they will be desperate to win this game to take themselves further up the league. The league itself is not quite settled - a couple of wins can put you right up there and vice versa, and we need to make sure we are doing what we can to keep ourselves in that top half."
