Match Preview: Shrewsbury Town (A)

Match Preview image for Shrewsbury town away fixture

Exeter City travel to Shrewsbury Town on Thursday evening looking to replicate the form they showed before the international break, live in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

City are unbeaten in four league matches without conceding a goal but haven't played in 12 days - a 1-0 win over Cambridge. They face a Shrewsbury Town side who sit just inside the relegation zone, despite an important and thrilling 5-3 away win at Crawley Town at the weekend.

Gary Caldwell's Thoughts

They are in better form so their confidence will be up, and I perhaps feel this is a much tougher game than it would have been two weeks ago.

"We know how tough it is to go there. Last year we got a bit of a helping hand with the red card, but we know how difficult it will be. We have to focus on ourselves and be prepared, and work on the areas we can improve. If we can do that, we can be a really dangerous team.

"Dan Green went to their game [at Crawley] and I watched it on Sky, and they have changed their formation. They are much more aggressive and direct than they have been."

Getting to Shrewsbury

The easiest route to the Croud Meadow is taking the M5 north onto the M6, where you leave at junction 10A for the M54. Follow this until it becomes the A5, taking the first exit left. At the next roundabout take the third exit onto the B4380 Oteley Road, go straight over the next two roundabouts and the stadium is on your left just behind the Lidl supermarket.

Parking

There are a number of parking options available for games at the Croud Meadow in and around the stadium.

The Croud Meadow – SY2 6ST
Parking at the Croud Meadow is mainly by permit but there are a limited number of passes available per game from the ticket office at the Croud Meadow. Tickets cost £10 and are available up until 12 noon on Saturdays, and 4 pm on midweek games. (All parking is subject to availability)

Meole Brace Park and Walk - SY3 9NB
The Meole Brace Park and Walk is situated approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from the Croud Meadow.

We are situated next to the Meole Brace Retail Park where you can find a number of different food and drink options, including McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee and Starbucks.

If you are looking for something a little stronger then The Wild Pig and Charles Darwin Pubs are the best options. Both are just a 10 to 15-minute walk away from the ground and serve a range of beers, ciders and spirits. They also offer hot meals and matchday parking.

Towards the end of the 2016/17 season, we installed a new Fanzone which is situated next to the Community Football Hub outside the DMOS People Stand. The Fanzone plays live music and have food and drink available. It is open to both home and away fans.

Once in the ground we provide catering inside the concourse. This includes a selection of Wright’s Pies, Rollover hot dogs, a selection of crisps and chocolate, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages.

With the loss of matchday parking at Percy Throwers, the club has been looking for an alternative for matchday parking. We have been working closely with Shropshire Council to provide an alternative to Percy Throwers and therefore Meole Brace will be available for both sets of supporters to park for this match.

Vehicles can be parked for £5 per car for matchday parking at Meole Brace P&R, which is a short 10-15 minute walk to the Croud Meadow.

The club will be providing stewards for the Meole Brace P&R to allow supporters to park in a safe and secure environment as per the previous arrangement at Percy Throwers.

The postcode for Meole Brace P&R is SY3 9NB. Payment will be by cash only.

If you have any more questions about matchday parking and travel options please contact info@shrewsburytown.co.uk.
