This month’s Exeter City Foundation big winner is Mike Butler who has won the £1,000 prize for March. Mike is pictured, receiving his cheque from City media officer Craig Bratt, before the recent home match against Shrewsbury Town.
Mike says the shock of his win is still sinking in and so he is not yet sure how he will spend the money!
Mike is a long time supporter of Exeter City and has been valued fund raiser in the past, he has some memories from the period: "I started watching City in 1966 and I am now getting near to my 1,000th game. So I’ve got lots of good memories, especially FA Cup games such as beating Newcastle 4-0 at the Park in 1981 and a few bad ones like losing at Warrington.
"Then I recall doing a solo walk from St James Park Newcastle to SJP Exeter to raise money for the Red or Dead Campaign, I planned it in autumn 2004, only to find us getting drawn against Manchester United in the Cup 3rd round! And went ahead with it in April 2005, raising over £800, which says a lot for people’s generosity. Oh yes, another good memory was going to Brazil in 2014 as part of the then centenary celebrations.
"I suppose my favourite player in all that time would probably have been Tony Kellow, but there would be plenty to choose from.”
