Under-18 Lead Coach Nicky Ajose has left Exeter City to pursue a new challenge with a Women’s Super League club.

Following last weekend’s match against Plymouth Argyle under-18s, Nicky has departed the club to join a Women’s Super League club as a first team coach.

Nicky first joined Exeter City in 2019 as a striker under Matt Taylor, and he then transitioned into the academy’s coaching staff when his playing contract expired in May 2021.

After spending time coaching in younger age groups, Nicky became under-18 Lead Coach last summer, overseeing an exciting group of scholars.

Whilst it is sad to see Nicky leave the club, we are proud to see another of our young coaches move on to work at the highest level. While the primary goal of the academy is to develop players for the first team, we are also proud to develop young coaches, to advance the game across the country.

Nicky has shown an outstanding passion and forward thinking approach to young player development during his time at the Club. His positive impact with our latest crop of Academy prospects has provided a fantastic platform for the boys to be successful in their future careers.

Thank you, and good luck Nicky from all at Exeter City.
