Exeter City Women have added to their squad ahead of the season’s opener with MK Dons with the return of forward Rebecca Dandridge.
Dandridge signed for the Grecians in 2021, scoring on her second appearance in an away draw at Moneyfields. A succession of impressive performances followed before injury curtailed her season.
A return to fitness at the beginning of last season saw the midfielder back in city colours, sadly, significant travel and work commitments led to a move back to Plymouth Argyle before the season began.
As one of the leading talents in the West country, with spells at Arsenal, Reading and Oxford in the Women’s Super League, it was no surprise to see Dandridge star at tier three for the Pilgrims. Fourteen appearances, six goals and five player of the match awards for Argyle underlining her ability to play at a higher level.
An impressive showing as the Greens eased past City in a League Cup determining round at the Exwick Sports Hub in late August of last year will have also provided a recent glimpse to Grecians supporters of the talent she possesses.
Manager Abbie Britton is delighted to welcome Dandridge back. “We parted on good terms last season; we always understood the significant travel commitments that Dandy (Dandridge) took on and wished her well at Argyle.
Dandridge is available for Sunday’s season opener as Britton’s side take on MK Dons at St James Park, she will wear the Number Nine for City this season.
