Exeter City Women make their second successive journey to the south east this Sunday as they make the long trip to Ipswich Town this Sunday afternoon.
City will travel off the back of a 4-2 win against Billericay Town a fortnight ago, but they will face possibly their biggest test of the league season, away to an Ipswich side who remain unbeaten. The Grecians are the only side to score twice against the Tractor Girls in the National League this season though, and will travel to Suffolk with confidence.
Away Guide
Planning on joining City on their longest journey of the season? Ipswich Town Women play their matches at the Martello Stadium, home of Isthmian League side Felixstowe and Walton FC.

Abbie Britton's thoughts

The Opposition
The Suffolk side only missed out on promotion to the Championship on goal difference in 2023 but found a run at the title that much harder last season, finishing fourth in the division. Josh Sheehan had a productive summer in the transfer market, recruiting a host of talented players with the potential and experience to take the Tractor Girls to promotion this term.
Angela Addison and Ella Rutherford have moved east from Charlton Athletic, while Natalia Negri and Shauna Guyatt both signed from Crystal Palace. Grace Garrad and Charlotte Fleming were part of the Lewes and Watford squads of last season, whilst Isabella Fisher signed for Town on a dual registration with Arsenal. With last season's key performers Sophie Peskett, Lenna Williams and Natasha Thomas all still in blue, Sheehan's side are already looking like title favourites this year.
Twenty games into the 2024/25 season and Town have only suffered two defeats, both in cup competitions - they were knocked out of the League Cup to Hashtag United, and lost very respectably 3-0 FA Cup at Manchester City.
Draws against the Grecians, Watford and most recently Lewes are the closest any team has come to stopping the impressive Tractor Girls in the league, the Suffolk side currently sitting in second, but only three points behind Hashtag with a game in hand.
Sheehan’s side have already hit 58 goals in the league this season, conceding just six, two of those coming from Sophie Gillies in the 2-2 draw at St James Park back in September. Sophie Peskett has 16 goals for Town in all competitions, closely followed by Natasha Thomas with 11.
Previous Encounter
City welcomed Ipswich to SJP back in September, and almost pulled off one of the club's all-time great results when Sophie Gillies put the Grecians 2-0 up. However, Ella Rutherford came off the bench to net a brace, as both sides left the field with a point ⬇️
