16-year-old Academy product Jake Richards was part of manager Gary Caldwell's pre-season schedule and played in City's 8-0 win over Mousehole.

The midfielder made his full League One debut on Saturday, August 9 as City were beaten 2-1 by Leyton Orient at SJP. However, he did provide the assist for Demetri Mitchell's goal that day. 

Jake would go on to have an impressive 2023/24 season, making a total of 12 appearances in which he received several plaudits, as well as being awarded the Supporters' Trust Young Player of the Year Award.
