Pair earn recognition for fine November
Paul Tisdale and Jamie Cureton have both been shortlisted for monthly awards by the Football League.
Jamie Cureton’s fine goalscoring form has put him in the running for the npower League 2 Player of the Month award.
A fine finish against AFC Wimbledon, a looping effort against Fleetwood, a bicycle kick against Bradford and a brace against table-toppers Gillingham have earned Curo a rightful place amongst the nominees.
He has stiff competition however in the shape of Adebayo Akinfenwa, who netted his first career hat-trick in Northampton’s victory over Accrington en route to a seven-goal tally for the month, as well as young Dagenham & Redbridge full-back Femi Ilensami whose all-action displays along the left flank have brought the plaudits.
Meanwhile manager Paul Tisdale has also been nominated for the npower League 2 Manager of the Month award.
November has been a fruitful month for the Grecians, made all the more remarkable by the strength of the opposition. Tis masterminded Exeter’s first victory at the Coral Windows Stadium for 29 years, followed soon after by their first victory at Priestfield in 31 years. Additionally a great win against the Dons and a fight-back to earn a point against the Trawlermen has been recognised as part of Paul’s nomination.
Tis is up against recently-appointed Chesterfield boss Paul Cook, who guided the Spireites to quick-fire victories over Oxford, Cheltenham and Plymouth. The other nominee is Paul Sturrock of Southend United, who led the Shrimpers to four wins and a draw to bolster their promotion hopes.
The winners of both categories will be announced on Friday morning.
