Keohane pleased to help City to victory
Two-goal hero Jimmy Keohane was pleased at being able to play his part in helping Exeter City to victory against Accrington Stanley.
His brace from the bench against the Friday-night visitors made the telling contribution in a 2-0 win – but in a typical display of selflessness, he was quick to commend his teammates and his joy at helping the team to victory.
“I’m really pleased to get two goals,” he admitted. “I was delighted when I got my first (against York), so it’s nice to be getting amongst the goals alright. It’s probably been a long time coming.
“But it’s about the team and making sure we get the win together. The ball came to me today and I was able to put it in the net. On another day it’ll fall to someone else – it doesn’t matter who it is so long as we keep getting the right results.”
Keohane’s first goal rounded off a fine move for the Grecians – which was a prime example of the profit that calm and collected play can bring – and Jimmy applauded the part that teammate Tommy Doherty played in the goal.
His midfield partner made a neat lay-off for him to open the scoring – and Jimmy expressed his gratitude for the influence his veteran teammate has had on his game.
“It was a really nice pass by Tommy,” he continued. “He’s really calm in those situations and plays the right ball. It seems like he's got all the time in the world when he's on the ball.
“He’s always giving me bits of advice on and off the pitch. It’s good for me to have players like that in the team if I’m going to keep improving.”
