Statement ahead of the season’s opening weekend
Both Exeter City and Bristol Rovers have been working hard with the Police to make the first game of the season a hugely successful one for fans and football.
Everyone looks forward to the season’s opener, and the game on Saturday 3rd August will be no different. The day is all about enjoying the city of Exeter, good-natured banter between fans, and a good game of football.
Bristol Rovers fans are always welcome at St James Park in the usual way as are all away fans. The clubs and Police are resolute in their intention to make it an enjoyable day out for both sets of fans so, with the away end sold out, Bristol Rovers fans are advised that it is pointless to travel without tickets and are reminded that it is in any event an offence for away fans to enter the home section of the ground. Any fans found will be ejected and this will be stringently enforced.
Home fans would be ill-advised to pass on home tickets to away fans. Our new ticketing system quickly identifies the purchaser ensuring that we are able to take immediate and appropriate action. Fans not adhering to this request will risk not being able to watch live football at St James Park in the future.
This match is an exciting Westcountry sporting occasion and we are sure all fans will do their utmost to support the event in the best way possible.
Remember too that it will be a busy day, so get to the turnstiles a good 20 minutes earlier than usual to avoid missing a moment of the action. Please get right behind your team in the best and most positive fashion and let’s all have a great day!
