Preview: Weston v Exeter City

A look ahead to the trip to the Woodspring Stadium

Weston-super-Mare v Exeter City XI
Thursday 25th July, 7.30pm
Woodspring Stadium
Pre-season friendly

With time ticking down towards the start of the 2013/14 season, Weston-super-Mare provide the latest challenge for the Grecians in the bid to get ready.

The fixture is likely to feature a number of Exeter’s fringe and youth players, with the seniors expected to get their game-time against Salisbury on Friday evening.

The Woodspring Stadium, opened less than a decade ago, might have been hosting Conference National fixtures next season if the Seagulls had been able to push on a little bit further.  As things occurred, the Somerset side fell just shy of the play-off places in the Conference South.

The Grecians have fared well against lower-league opposition so far in pre-season.  Exeter travelled to Clevedon and triumphed 2-0 thanks to goals by Jimmy Keohane and Jake Gosling, and it was a Tom Nichols  brace at Buckland that gave City the same winning scoreline.
