Final game arranged for the Grecians in Brazil
Exeter City’s third and final pre-season game in Brazil has been arranged against Rio Cricket e Associação Atlética on Friday 25th July, kicking off at 1pm local time (5pm BST).
We are aware that some of our travelling fans will have departed to return to England by then. The fixture will be somewhat in the nature of a private invitation match, but any fans still around are more than welcome to join us there for a social day.
Unsurprisingly, the club has its origins in England. Originally founded in 1872 as Rio Cricket Club, it became a multi-sports and athletics club and had a big rivalry with Paissandu Atlético Clube, who were established from dissenting Rio players in their early years to emerge as neighbours and adversaries.
Cricket doesn’t feature high on the agenda for the club anymore, but the club has a number of football teams as well as practicing tennis, sinuca brasileira and bocce amongst other sports.
