Reading coming to Exeter for pre-season friendly

Grecians to host the Royals at the Park

We’re pleased to make Championship side Reading our latest friendly announcement for pre-season ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.

The Royals will visit St James Park on Tuesday 15th July for a 7.30pm kick-off.  It will be City’s last pre-season fixture before departing for Brazil on Thursday 17th July.

It is the second home fixture that has been arranged by Exeter this year – upon returning from Rio, the Grecians will also face Premier League outfit Swansea City on Tuesday 29th July.

Nigel Adkins’ men narrowly missed out on the Sky Bet Championship play-offs in 2013/14, and will be gearing up for another assault on the division this season with the Premier League in their crosshairs.

Reading have a couple of City links in their squad – young midfielder Jake Taylor, who made eight substitute appearances and one start for the Royals last season, spent the 2011/12 season on loan at St James Park.  The club’s prolific Academy is also overseen by former Exeter City man Eamonn Dolan, who spent a total of 13 years at St James Park as a player, community officer, coach and manager before moving to the Madejski Stadium in 2004.

We look forward to welcoming Reading and their supporters to St James Park for this friendly fixture.  Admission prices will be announced in due course.

Further friendlies will be announced on exetercityfc.co.uk as and when they are arranged.
