Forward wins award after netting 15
Exeter City forward Tom Nichols was awarded Exeter City’s Golden Boot for the 2014/15 season, netting 15 goals across the campaign. The 21-year-old striker bookended the Grecians’ season by netting Exeter’s first of the campaign – he opened the scoring in the curtain-raiser against Portsmouth in August, and was given a gift of a goal on the final weekend to hit the net against Dagenham & Redbridge to wrap up the season.
Between those games, the Exeter City Academy graduate netted all types of goals – left foot, right foot, headers, pressure-penalties and last-gasp winners.
Two of Tom’s goals were in the running for the Goal of the Season award too – his deft lob which opened the scoring at Cheltenham Town, and his late header at St James Park which secured a 3-2 turnaround against Shrewsbury Town in added time.
