Grecians boss reacts to Northampton point
EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale described Northampton Town as deserved Sky Bet League 2 winners after the Cobblers clinched the title with a 0-0 draw at St James Park."If you've won the league after forty-two matches, I'd say you deserve it," Paul said. "They are a good side; a disciplined outfit, and they've improved as the season's gone on. I've been impressed by them over the last couple of weeks, and they had something to gain today. We're in our own good run at the moment, and we thought it was going to be a 1-0; either for them or for us. We had opportunities, as we hit the bar and the post. I'm not quite sure how the Jayden Stockley header stayed out; it came out of nothing really, a really good cross from Jamie McAllister, and I think it was good defending to prevent Jayden from getting as much on it as he would have liked.
"As a manager, it was a game of stick or twist. You can't over-expose yourself against a team like Northampton, and I didn't want to go too early with the gamble. The point is a good point; there's four games left to go, and there's still twelve points left to play for. Wimbledon are certainly in pole position for seventh, but we can only continue doing our bit.
"It's taken eighteen months to get Ollie competitive, physical, robust and dynamic. The penny has now dropped, and he's in the side. He's got himself the opportunity, and he's certainly not a luxury; he's a hard-working member of the team. I think David Wheeler is okay, but I was more concerned that Jordan Moore-Taylor didn't put the ball in the back of the net. I'm sure he'll be okay; I think he just landed awkwardly."
