SEPTEMBER was a memorable month for the St James Park faithful as they witnessed their side string together three consecutive home wins over Portsmouth, Leyton Orient and Hartlepool.Defeats to Accrington Stanley and Wycombe Wanderers were a setback, but the month ended the same way in which it had begun, with victory over early promotion-chasers Portsmouth.
