All 46 of the EFL Sky Bet League 2 fixtures are now marked on the calendar, subject to alterations, of course, but some of those games whet the appetite a little more than others.
So here is a run-down to some of the key fixture dates to take a note of…
Opening and closing weekend
The opening day of the season is always an exciting one.
This year we kick-off the new campaign by hosting Cambridge United at St James Park on Saturday, August 5.
Bookending the year is the visit of Colchester United. City close the season at St James Park on Saturday, May 5.
Local matches
The Grecians make the short trip to the County Ground to face recently-relegated Swindon Town on Saturday, August 19, the second weekend of the new campaign. The home fixture takes place on Saturday, March 24.
City face local rivals Yeovil Town twice in a month, travelling to Huish Park on Saturday, December 23. The Glovers make the return journey to SJP on Saturday, January 27.
City make the short trip to Cheltenham Town on Saturday, August 26, and welcome the Robbins on Monday, April 2.
Christmas and Easter
A hectic festive period sees four matches in the space of ten days. City travel to Yeovil Town on Saturday December 23. This if followed by a Boxing Day clash at home to newly promoted Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday, December 26, City then host Barnet at home on Saturday, December 30.
New Year’s Day sees the short trip to face Newport County at Rodney Parade. Cheltenham Town are visitors to St James Park on Easter Monday.
Midweek fixtures
Postponements and cup runs might necessitate a few more midweek clashes, but at present, there are just six midweek league matches scheduled.
These start away to Barnet on Tuesday, September 12, followed by a home match against Notts. County on Tuesday, September 26. City host Luton Town at SJP on Tuesday, October 17 and then travel to Crawley Town on Tuesday, November 21.
Forest Green Rovers make their first trip to SJP since the 2002 FA Cup match on Boxing Day, Tuesday, December 26. The final scheduled midweek match is away to Port Vale on Tuesday, February 13.
Long away trips
Travelling Grecians open the new campaign with a few weeks of short journeys to the likes of Swindon, Cheltenham and Forest Green Rovers.
The first truly gruelling distance to overcome for an away game is the trip to Brunton park to face Carlisle United on Saturday, October 7, City fans will be very familiar with Carlisle after facing them on four occasions last season.
City make the long trip to Mansfield Town three weeks later on Saturday, October 28. The Grecians then travel to Grimsby Town on Saturday, February 24, and Morecambe on Saturday, March 17.
The final scheduled long trip of the campaign is on Saturday, April 14, as City travel to the Wham Stadium to face Accrington Stanley.
