💬 Andy Taylor: “It felt good when I hit it but unfortunately it was the wrong side of the post.”

Former Exeter City player Andy Taylor talked about his time at the club with marketing manager Scott Palfrey.

The midfielder, who started his career off at Manchester United, made over 100 appearances at St James Park and helped the club back into the Football League in 2008. He also played in both ties against Manchester United in the FA Cup third round tie in January 2005 – games which helped save the club from financial turmoil.

Speaking about the challenge of playing Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, he said: “Everybody wanted to step up to the challenge and compete against that calibre of calibre. Everybody remembers Scott Hiley’s nutmeg on Cristiano Ronaldo, nobody is ever going to forget that, so Scott well and truly stepped up the challenge that day. The buzz around the game, the atmosphere.

"It was amazing feeling to have the opportunity perform on that stage, against those players was great and then you look back and it was Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney who have scored the goals to beat you, you can’t really argue too much with that.”
